Basic Modeling Rules
- When modeling Welded Sheet Metal parts, if the part can be unfolded as sheet metal, it can be estimated as Welded Sheet Metal even if it cannot be unfolded.
- Please model according to the following part configuration conditions.
1. Single-Part Models
A State where unfolding is possible
- BNon-unfoldable state
- *Limited to models with uniform plate thickness.
After meviy import
*For case B, it converts to a shape (A) that can be manufactured as plate welding.
- For corner welds, we recommend modeling with cutout sizes within twice the plate thickness (per side) and angles where bends and welds intersect at 90 degrees or greater.
- Although welding is performed from the outer side during manufacturing, both sides are highlighted in purple in the 3D viewer to indicate that both sides are filled.
①The size a of the cutout at the box corner must be 2 times the plate thickness or less.

②The angle where the bend and weld intersect is 90° or greater

Caution
- Filling holes in corners is not applicable when the bend and weld intersect at an angle other than 90 degrees.
- If hole filling is required, please provide comments in the Additional Manufacturing Instructions field.
Example: For all three weld lines

*Note: No highlight for the corner in the 3D viewer.

B Only when there is one R-bend section, the state can be unfolded (composed of a single solid). |
*For box shapes containing R-bends, modeling in “A Unfoldable state” is recommended.
Models composed of two or more parts (1) Joining identical plates
AState where two parts are composed of separate solids
- BTwo parts composed of the same solid
- *Limited to models with uniform plate thickness.
After meviy import
*Model B will be converted to shape (A), which is manufacturable as plate welding.
Model composed of two or more parts (2) Overlapping plates
ASplit weld locations
BIntegrated state
![]() | *Model B is not subject to conversion. |
After meviy import
Model the parts constituting the welded product according to the "Basic Modeling Rules" for meviy sheet metal.
For modeling rules of plate parts constituting welded products, refer to the “Basic Modeling Rules” in the Plate Manual.
- Weld beads are not required in the 3D data. For automatically recognized weld locations, please set the weld information in the 3D Viewer.
- For details, please refer to “Setting Welding Information“.
